Phew, what a scorcher! I’m writing this on one of the hottest days this year so I’ve been thinking about icecream and I thought you might like to know a bit more about the local company, Otter Valley Dairy which supplies our shop.
Honiton on the A30. They are very much a family business with three generations involved in running the dairy farm and making ice-cream using only milk from their own herd of Holsteins. All the ice-cream is made in small batches with natural flavourings and ripples added by hand and it has won many awards both nationally and regionally including 2 gold awards at this year’s Taste of the West.
We live in such a great part of the country for food production and it
is our policy at Payhembury Provisions to stock as many local products as we can, as well as affordable everyday goods. Talking about local suppliers, we owe a big thank you to all the people who have given us their surplus garden produce to sell in the shop, we have had redcurrants, squashes, beans, courgettes and herbs, all fresher than fresh and delicious too. You can’t get more local than that!
Finally, now that term is starting, if there are any mums or dads with a little bit of time to spare please give a thought to volunteering at the shop, it’s sociable and fun, you could learn some new skills and you’d be assured of a
