It is with regret, much soul searching and consultation with bulb show committee members past and present, that the bulb show has come to an end. With fewer and fewer entries each year, it was felt that the break, forced on us by the pandemic (the last bulb show was in March 2018), provided a time of refection and the current committee has reluctantly stood down. Despite the inclement weather being against us, I’m sure you’ll agree the hall looked a picture on the day of the show. It was great to see so many bulbs and flowers which made it spring-like even though the day was freezing, and it kept trying to snow.   On behalf of the committee I would like to give thanks and acknowledge those that helped make the show the success that it was. There will be a notice in the February Parish Paper. It may seem a long time away but, with fruit ripening, now is the time to make jams for entry in the Bulb Show. This year we are asking for Raspberry and Plum jam. Good Luck! Jane Wood

The hall looked beautiful on show day thanks to the concerted efforts of all those who displayed exhibits, and it smelled pretty good too. Thank you to all those who entered – without you there would be no show, and it proved yet again that there are a lot of talented Payhembrians out there. I would like to thank the committee first and foremost; for some it was their first show and everyone rose to the challenge and helped make sure everything ran smoothly. Also to Jo Vincent, Joan Jarvis, Julie Moore, Pat Holdaway and all the committee children who helped in one way or another. I am sure you will all agree that the hall looked and smelt fabulous last Saturday for the show. Thank you to everyone that came and took part making it another successful village event. We had 426 entries and were pleased that Dr Tim Cox came and opened for us. Congratulations to all those who won prizes. In the children’s categories, Caitlin Brook, William Bentley and Amelia Wadsworth all won a Book Token.
