As predicted last month, the return to home games and Ed’s cooking has seen a remarkable upturn in our fortunes!
After starting the summer with four consecutive defeats, in the past month we have blown away Exeter University, Blacksmiths and Artizans, Branscombe Ravens and Coaver Gerries (formerly The Geriatrics, but we aren’t allowed to call anyone ‘geriatric’ anymore) followed by a mid-match
abandonment with Talaton Inn and a narrow two run defeat to Bakers XI.
In the absence of Skipper Kittow (on holiday), Ben Peters took the reins and as things stand has an unblemished captaincy record… lets see how the next month goes before we compare him to Ben Stokes.
Its been very good to see newcomer John Corcoran throwing himself about in the field and hitting one or two lusty blows, whilst occasional bowler Ben Norris became the first Miller to record a double wicket Maiden this summer.
Whilst our bowlers do take a bit of stick occasionally, on a trip to Bristol recently I found it refreshing to see that England’s record T20 bowler, Adil Rashid, got smashed for 5 Sixes in a single over by the West Indies, suddenly we can feel good about our bowling figures!
On Sunday 6th July we are hosting The Tuck Mill Ten Competition, with teams from Clyst Hydon, Talaton, Broadclyst YFC and The Millers competing in a Ten Over Bash, starting at 1.30pm. Bar and BBQ will be open and all spectators are welcome, along with dogs and children. Feel free to bring your own deckchair and hopefully we will be blessed with fine weather.
