Report on the Bulb and Flower Show 2013
Our 50th show has received lots of positive comments, about the impact on all the senses, as people entered the hall, I think everyone will agree that it looked a picture. In a few weeks we will be having a meeting to plan and discuss next year’s show. Our 50th show was a great success, despite the fact that Joy could not be with us to due to ill health. We really missed her and wish her a speedy recovery. As usual, the hall looked and smelled wonderful, and the standards in each class were very high. It was fantastic that Betty Johns could open the show, she is the Chair and has been a part of every single one of the fifty shows which I’m sure you’ll all agree is a great feat of longevity. The Spring Bulb and Flower Show was founded by members of the Payhembury Women’s Institute in 1962, but run independently of that organisation, so 2013 saw the 50th Anniversary. This is because the 39th show had to be cancelled in 2001 due to the Foot and Mouth restrictions.
