If you’ve been watching Blue Planet on the television I’m sure you will have taken on board David Attenborough’s message that we should all try to take better care of our oceans and cut down our use of plastic. Some of the goods delivered to our shop arrive in lots of packaging but at least we can offer you fruit
and veg with no unnecessary plastic packaging and you can choose the exact amount you’d like to buy, so no waste. If you’d like to bring your own mug for the hot drinks machine, that’s fine by us.
December has been our time to focus on raising some extra funds for village groups with our Christmas raffle, and 
by making our hot drinks free, but with a donation to the village raffle fund very much appreciated. Prices are rising in supermarkets everywhere and of course we are not immune to this, but our pricing policy has always been to charge a fair and reasonable price for our goods, and, because we have no salaries to pay, we are able to do this while still generating some profits for the benefit of our village. Which other local shop has not increased the price of some of their staple products such as milk for 6 years?
If you didn’t manage to come in to the shop in 2017, why not make a new year resolution to pop in this year and see what we can offer; we hope you’ll be pleasantly surprised and you’ll certainly be very 
welcome.
Our Payhembury calendar has been very popular, if you haven’t bought yours yet you’ll need to get your skates on. Our resident design guru, Tim, is asking for your help, so if you take a photo of Payhembury village life and would like to see it immortalised in next year’s calendar, please get in touch with him via the shop. Snow scenes, photos of village events and people all welcome.
