Churchmouse – March

29 February 2016 By Sue

churchHi guys

Oh what a shock I got this morning when I ran outside, frost, hard frost on the ground! Do you know it burnt my  little toes? “Aw! Oooh! Aw!” I shouted and “Aw! Oooh! Aw!” again, then out ran Parchina and she joined in with the Aw, Ooh, Aw dance.

Mum came running out to see what all the noise was about. (She’s always afraid that if we make too much noise we will annoy the neighbours and they’ll put out traps for us, but we know the people of Payhembury are far too kind for that!)

Well, we got told off for running outside before checking carefully what the weather was like, in fact, we have been  told that we must not run outside without looking carefully around in case there is a cat waiting to gobble us up. So Parchina and I were sent back inside to put on our warm boots, our scarves, gloves and coats and then we were  allowed to go carefully outside.

We got a bit naughty again, we mice just can’t help it. We found some old matches, which I expect Rev Cate had  dropped, she’s so untidy! We made a little bonfire with a few tiny twigs; can you see us in the picture? Well we only made the bonfire to keep warm and we were very careful as we have been told, like all you children, not to play with matches. Dad found us and was a bit cross but I think he enjoyed warming himself by the bonfire. He was right we shouldn’t play with fire as it is dangerous. It just goes to show that Mum and Dad do know what’s best for us and they are only trying to look after us, so Parchina and I must try much harder to listen to them.

I believe Rev Cate sometimes talks about obeying our parents in something called the Ten Commandments, so  perhaps as they are a message from God we should take notice, even though sometimes it’s hard.

Have fun , Parchie and Parchina
