After taking a short summer break, the Tale Valley Community Theatre company will resume rehearsals this month for ‘They Dream of Home’. This unique performance will be staged at sites around Payhembury village on
Sat 9th and Sun 20th Sept
Starting at 7.00pm in the Parish Hall
An original play, written and directed by John Somers, it captures the excitement amongst the young men of the parish as war is declared and their progression through recruitment, intense battles and the awful consequences of warfare. Two of the characters are based on real men whose relatives have given permission to include them in the story. The nephew of one still lives at the edge of the village green, close to the memorial which bears his uncle’s name.
Because audience numbers are limited to 120 each night, it is expected that tickets will sell quickly. The ticket also comprises a programme which gives historical and other information about the context of the performance. It also holds the words of the songs which will be sung by audience members and the actors as they make their way to the next scene. Musical Director, Andy Hague, has brought together a 14-member silver band which will form an integral part of the performance.
