They Dream of Home – to be held on 19th and 20th September
Due to unforeseen circumstances, Tale Valley Community Theatre’s WW1 commemoration play ‘They Dream of Home’ did not happen in September 2014. It will now be performed on September 19th and 20th this year, with the bulk of the rehearsals taking place in July.
‘They Dream of Home’, written and directed by John Somers, features,
with the permission of relatives, two real people whose names appear on the Payhembury War Memorial. It will be a promenade performance, with scenes happening in several village locations and including the Christmas Truce when rival soldiers sang carols together in an impromptu ceasefire. The audience will move to several village sites, singing with the cast as they go, popular WW1 songs.

If you are interested in exploring the possibility of taking part in this production – as actor,singer, qualified pyrotechnics operator, brass instrument player, props assistant, audience safety steward, production assistant, costume assistant or many other posts, please get in touch. People of all ages and interests are needed, from flag wavers to singers. A number of related events – history of WW1 presentation, poetry and singing evening, images of WW1 etc will also be mounted.
