Here We Are Again
As a part of its World War One arts programme, Tale Valley Community Theatre will be mounting a WW1 poetry and songs evening in Payhembury Hall on Saturday 18th July. The poems will be read by individuals and will contain well known favourites such as Albert and the Lion and more serious verse such as Dulce et Decorum est.
There will be a musical hall atmosphere with the audience singing well known songs of the period such as Pack up Your Troubles, My Old Man said Follow the Van and Knees up Mother Brown. This evening is suitable for all ages and students who are studying WW1 should enjoy it as well as older people who, as children, heard parents and grandparents singing these songs.
A ploughman’s supper will be provided but please bring your own drinks. To ensure accurate catering and to minimise food wastage please buy your tickets beforehand. We still need more actors and singers for They Dream of Home, TVCT’s WW1 play to be performed on the roads and in the houses of Payhembury on the 19th and 20th of September.
