Tale Millers CC – June News

28 June 2020 By Sue

Apologies, readers, for the radio silence – Cricket hasn’t really been up there at the top of the agenda over recent months, not a clue why. We are in the process of preparing the pitch for some training sessions and hopefully by early July a few of us will be able to gather and reacquaint ourselves with long forgotten skills – some of us will need a very good memory.

Of course, we had a good spell of weather whilst we couldn’t play, so no doubt our release onto the field of play will coincide with thunderous showers! We still very much hope to be able to play games later in the summer and will update the village website once we have clearance to play – without spitting on the ball of course. We will, I imagine, have to appoint a ball sanitisation officer in due course and are happy to receive applications. Thank you to Jason, Will, Shane, Riley, Postie etc who have helped out with the ground .

Finally, our Player of the Year, Jason Wood, celebrates fifty years of life and, being an awesome guy, (a bit cheesy I know) just prior to publication of the magazine, we all hope you had a great day and enjoyed watching every Star Wars film ever made (everyone should have a guilty pleasure) as part of the celebration and look forward to continuing the celebrations when we can all meet up.

Not strictly cricket but following the shop selling out of Ruby Red Tuck Mill Beef, we do still have a good supply which can be bought straight from the farm, just give me a shout or call in.

See you one at a time on the pitch, Jon Carden
