Payhembury Provisions News – August 2017

29 July 2017 By Sue

Each year our community shop has been able to help fund various projects around the village, sometimes as a one-off grant from our profits (eg the pavement outside the shop which we all take for granted now) or sometimes from the proceeds of our weekly raffle topped up by the shop profits.

Many village groups and clubs have benefited this way over the last 6 years and in September we will be asking you to apply in writing to the shop committee for this year’s allocation of grants. Please consider supporting the raffle as by doing so you will be helping to improve village life for everyone. Squares on the raffle board are £1 each and you could win £15 to spend on whatever you like in the shop.

If you are stuck for ideas on how to treat your nearest and dearest (or yourself!) with your £15 prize here are some ideas…

  • Khushi kitchen authentic curries and some local beer

  • Smoked salmon, eggs, croissants and coffee

  • Otter Valley ice cream, peaches and a bottle of prosecco

  • Baguettes, Devon ham, Sharpham brie, Barbers cheddar, fig chutney and a bottle of wine

  • Or – one for the children – sausages, pizzas, cherry tomatoes, ice-creams, a fishing net, a beach ball and a free-to-borrow DVD

Happy Holidays, Mary Whiting
