Like any other five year old we are very excited to be celebrating our birthday this month. There has been such a lot for us all to learn over the last five years and we know there will be more challenges to come. Babies that were just born when we started are now at school, teenagers who volunteered with us have been through university and some have embarked on careers in retail. We have celebrated birthdays and anniversaries and commiserated over illnesses and troubles. We’re happy to say we have been able to help many village organisations financially and we hope that everyone who comes into the shop feels this sense of community goodwill as well as finding it convenient to do their shopping with us.
It has all been made possible by the hard work of many people, but thanks are due to our landlords, the Leach family, without whom the shop would not exist in its present form, and especially to our chairman David Curran who has given more generously of his time and expertise than anyone, and copes with whatever problems we throw at him with patience and humour, and modesty; he doesn’t know we are writing this and the whole committee will probably face the sack when he reads it! Thank you from us all David.
We would like to invite everyone: volunteers, regular customers, occasional customers, suppliers and even those of you who are yet to come into your shop, to afternoon tea on us, or an ice cream for children:
