Tale Millers Cricket Club

Tale Millers CC logo

Tale Millers was formed in 2014 for local folk to enjoy some friendly 20 Over Cricket, a pint or two and some friendly banter during the summer months. We welcome enquiries from opposition teams, and new players, whatever age and sex, or join the ranks of our growing social membership.

We play our home games at Tuck Mill, a pleasant short stroll from the centre of the village on a summers evening.

  • Visitors and walk-ins are welcome during game days

  • Social memberships are available at a low annual rate

  • BBQs are catered after every match

  • Ice cold Thatcher’s and lagers are now on tap!

Hope to see you and the family there.

Cricket Club

March 13th, 2024

It seems mighty strange having just walked across a bog purporting to be a cricket field but in theory we should be limbering up for our first game of the season later in April away at Clyst Hydon, not our longest journey but Tale Lane isn’t always the easiest route to traverse! Our First home game is in the Voneus Village Knock Out Cup, our only attempt at 40 Over cricket this summer, at home to the Cornish giants from Roche. Our approach could be likened to England’s less successful attempts at Bazball but on the positive side we have […]

Tale Millers Cricket Club

February 24th, 2024

I know it really doesn’t seem like it but within two months of you picking up your Parish Paper we should be playing cricket – time will tell ! As of the start of this season the club will have a DEFIBRILLATOR up and running in the toilets beside the pitch . Clearly it makes sense that this should be accessible to local residents in Tale in an emergency and the club will be working towards that . The local charity that we have worked with on this project, JAYS AIM, will be providing a training session one evening in […]

Tale Millers Latest – May 2023

April 22nd, 2023

The optimism of February, when we were working the fields, led into a wet old march, leaving cricket clubs up and down the country battling the weather to be ready for the start of the cricket season. Having decided that our home patch should be a field beside a river at the bottom of a valley (I appreciate it’s not the biggest valley nor the biggest river) we are even further behind than most. Our ground prep evening was cancelled due to a flooded outfield and our first game at Clyst Hydon has fallen victim to the weather. Apparently you […]

TMCC – Played 21, Won 14, Lost 7

September 28th, 2022

Once again, we have reached the conclusion of a hugely enjoyable summer of cricket and friendship. This year’s end of season celebration took place shortly after the passing of our wonderful Queen and before the cricket a minute’s silence was observed with a Toast to follow; what an extraordinary lady and a fine example of humanity for us to follow. The Inter Club game that followed was huge fun, with JC and The Sunshine Band overcoming The Southern Cider Drinkers in an exciting 7 a side format, by 64 runs to 60. Highlight of the evening was to see young […]

Tale Millers Cricket Club – August 2022

August 28th, 2022

The cricket field at Tuck Mill is almost looking excited today as the first rain its seen for a few weeks has fallen, albeit not the huge dolloping we’d like but beggars cant be choosers. Fullsys Allstars strode confidently into town on 15th July and as it turned out, they were right to look so confident ! After the Millers had posted a below par 105-6 with Ralph Cook unbeaten on 30 and Mark Hammett 18, Fullsys unleashed a genuine Allstar in the shape of Exeter City FC manager Matt Taylor . Unfortunately for our own overseas superstar, Fred Brauer, […]

Tale Millers Cricket Club – July 2022

July 28th, 2022

As the long awaited summer weather is upon us, the month has seen some exciting cricket and not just in the Test arena where “Bazball” has taken centre stage. The demolition of New Zealand followed by victory over India have made Test cricket sexy again and there’s no doubt the longer format of the game will benefit hugely from this new era of entertainment. For the hooligans amongst you, fear not, “The Hundred” is just around the corner ☹ After a couple of wet weeks (remember them?) we entertained The Sunsets at Tuck Mill and after The Millers posted a […]

Tale Millers Cricket Club – June 2022

June 28th, 2022

After years in the wilderness, the Millers finally got some silverware under their belt by winning the world famous T20 Whimple Jubilee Cup. Following an early morning start and a great win over the Ottery carnival squad, the afternoon got underway with a 139 total set by our hosts Whimple. Enter Tale Millers and after a fabulous lesson in batting from our openers Jason Wood and John Pengelly, Tale Millers came through with several overs to spare… Notable mentions (both innings); Ben Peters for the quick fire 30 (off 10 balls), Sam Franks for 4 wickets for no runs (that really […]

Tale Millers Cricket Club – May 2022

May 28th, 2022

Its quite likely to be June by the time you read this, I’m not sure where the time goes and Ive just heard that mother is already working on next Christmas’s hand illustrated Christmas card ! Whilst we haven’t had a home game just yet the Miller’s whites were first seen this year as far back as 20th April , when we made the short trip to Clyst Hydon on a beautiful sunny evening , ending in a three run defeat but more importantly some jolly tasty hot dogs being served up. Runs for Jason Wood, Sam Franks and Jon […]
