Constance was for several years the editor of the Parish Paper. She took on the job with her usual enthusiasm when in her sixties. Undaunted by the complexities of her new Publisher software she produced an interesting and well put together paper every month.
She was a great supporter of village life in so many ways, a regular churchgoer, a kind neighbour, a loyal customer of the village shop and also a volunteer there when in her eighties.
She was a hugely talented artist with solo exhibitions to her credit, whose works were displayed in The Six Bells Inn and can be seen on the cards she produced for the shop, and also she was a highly valued and respected member of the village art group.
Her life was packed with her many interests from archery, amateur dramatics and sailing to tennis, dress-making and fly-fishing. She loved her garden too but above all she was interested in people.
She had a variety of jobs before she married, as a nanny in Egypt, a maker of wedding dresses and a PA in the glass and china department of Harrods. She met George when, as a handsome young land agent, he helped her over a muddy stile; that was the beginning of a devoted 59 year partnership. They lived near Llandudno for many years and brought up their three children there before moving to Colestocks in the 1980s.
Any difficulties that she faced in later years were met with stoicism, maybe some annoyance but with no selfpity at all. She was hugely proud of all her family.
Constance was a quintessential English lady, there are many of us who will miss seeing her driving through the village in her determined way in her Morris Traveller and we feel honoured to have known her.
