Churchmouse – September

6 September 2014 By Sue

mouseHi friends, do you like this picture I took of Parchina on our holiday. We had a super time visiting our family at the seaside. We played up and down the sand dunes, sliding on leaves, we ran in and out of tunnels made by children and we played in the great sand castles built by some very clever people on the beach when they had all gone home. Oh it was great fun. One of our favourite things was running to the edge of the sea and waiting until a wave came in then running ahead of it to see if we could keep our toes dry, I fell over several times and the wave washed over me, oh it was a bit scary but I had my rubber ring on so I was ok. You see mice aren’t very good swimmers, not like our relatives the water voles, they are marvelous swimmer but they are so much bigger than us.

We were all glad to be away as it was very quiet in church, the children from school were all on holiday, there wasn’t much activity. We were sad to miss Carol and Michael’s wedding though as we love a wedding! But we have more coming up soon; Cat and Jonathon are getting married this month.

We were surprised to see that most of the harvesting had been done when we came home, early this year, our friends the harvest mice told us it was because of the good weather everything ripened earlier. Shame, we love playing in the fields with the harvest mice but we have still the fun of apple rolling to look forward to and conker football.

The children will soon be back to school and then everything will be back to normal, sad that summer will be coming to an end but we will have the fun of Harvest Festival to look forward to. Must dash , Mum is calling us to sort out and tidy up our holiday gear, squeaks Parchie and Parchina.
