Look what I found …
A picture of Mum pushing me in a pram when I was a baby! Don’t I look sweet? Mum looks so proud of me too. I hope she is still proud of me and Parchina now that we’ve grown up. I know sometimes we do things which annoy her, like not coming back from the fields on time. She worries what might have happened to us, particularly when there is a large fearsome cat prowling around. I wonder why cats always want to chase us mice. I’d like to get to know a few but then they might just gobble me up and I’m sure that wouldn’t be much fun.
Granddad mouse has lots of tales about his adventures when he was a young mouse. He tells us about the time he was cornered by a large black cat by the church wall. He thought that was his end but he noticed the drain pipe nearby and scooted up it as fast as he could. The cat was furious and stayed meowing by the pipe for ages. He tells us he climbed all the way up the pipe and got out at the top – that bit we’re not too sure about. Another time he was sitting in the sunshine behind the War Memorial having a little snooze when he heard something. He looked up and there was a huge paw just above his head ready to pounce. As quick as a flash he ran up the cross out of the cat’s way. In fact he was saved by the cross.
I think I’ve heard Rev Cate talk about that in church, how Jesus died on the cross to save us; I must listen again to find out more. There are many more stories so when I have time I’ll tell you more, but must go now.
