By the time you read this the Slade Barton big barn will be down and the shop will be a stand alone building in the centre of the village. Hopefully there wasn’t too much dust and, being a considerate contractor, it came down after the school broke up. Talking of ‘broken up’ and ‘demolition’ we still have a supply of well priced broken biscuits for you and summer holiday visitors to demolish!
Everything seems to be up in the world and we are exception; the new credit and debit card machine which is linked to the shop wifi goes like the clappers and has been a most welcome change for both customers and counter staff volunteers alike.
There have been some changes with village shop volunteers leaving for other parts of the country or indeed other countries and we thank them very much for their time that they gave to the shop and their community and wish them a bon voyage. You know what’s coming next … that has left some boots to fill for shop duties and we would love to see any new volunteers (or old ones coming back) step up. It really isn’t an onerous task and can be as little as an hour a week. Please consider it. We would welcome you with open arms and you get to come to the volunteers’ supper which is looming! And no need to dress in Morris gear.
